Animals that live in harsh climates have some amazing adaptations that help them thrive. Mammals that live in the arctic, for example, have long, thick fur to keep them nice and warm. In fact, the muskox, found in Greenland and Arctic North America, has the longest hair of any animal on Earth! Muskox hair is very warm and soft, and can be used like sheep's wool to make hats, mittens and scarves. The special name given to muskox wool is "qiviut"-- now that's a great word for Scrabble!
