The annual Business Forum and Human Rights opened Monday 16 bringing together more than 2,000 delegates drawn from various sectors, including, private companies, civil society organisations, governments and international organisations. The annual event is organised by the UN Human Rights Office. The forum heard about the profound impact business can have, both positive and negative, on human rights. Companies can contribute to the economic growth of a country - and yet company activities can also – directly or indirectly - destroy livelihoods, exploit workers or displace communities.
