Chuckie From Electric Festival On Love This City TV After landing in Aruba and heading to the official Electric festival Aruba hotel, “Renaissance Hotel & Casino”, I felt the excitement and remembered the fun I had the first visit to this happy little island, and could hardly imagine the madness this time around. This was a 5-day music festival in the Caribbean! Never had I been to a festival anywhere other then the amazing North America experiences, so I knew this would be something new. Different cultures, mostly South American countries such as Columbia, Venezuela, Porto Rico, the islands of the Caribbean, and also many from North America. Nothing felt better then rolling up to my hotel and hearing the grooves of deep house playing from the beautiful poolside. Gorgeous girls and sexy guys scattered everywhere dancing and my heart was throbbing with excitement! Later that day, as I rushed into my bikini and down to the pool from my hotel room, I danced my way through a large crowd of party people drinking Pineapple rum and the best pina colada ever. That’s when I realized… this was only day 1 with five and a half more days to go. I knew things can only get better from here. 2014 was a new era of partying for Aruba, bigger and better, and in my eyes perfectly well rounded. Through out the 5 day Festival there was not to much time for anything other then rave and repeat. Yes, I managed to play with flamingos, swim in the ocean, go boating and meet incredible people, but over all music was the answer with the grand opening party at Confessions with the leader of underground tech house Loco Dice playing until sunrise, thanks to founder, DJ Chuckie who refused to let the party stop at the typical 2am us North Americans are so used to, but instead until the early morning sunrise. following the opening party came 3, spread out, super sexy pool parties at the Renaissance Marina Hotel with South America’s powerhouse’s Nutzbeatz, North America’s super trouper Endo, and network party leaders E! Entertainment with there smooth slogan #ONEHAPPYPARTY! I considered these to be the teaser events because I then discovered a deeper respect and understanding of this music we call house and those who produce it, spin it and live it. ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) went full swing this year with their music conference including key speakers from all angles of the industry with panel discussions, workshops and Q&A’s. One of my favorites were Dave Clark and DJ Chuckie chilling out, smoking cigars in the Cigar Emporium while talking about the top 10 DJ’s who should be billionaires. Their choices were out right correct with picks featuring Armin, Carl Cox and Frankie Knuckles just to name a few. Also, the final Q&A on the Renaissance private island, yes on the beach, with Sara Cooper from Sara Cooper PR discussing the evolving dance music scene in the Caribbean and how they do it. Now for the real good stuff… The official electric festival! 2 stages 2 nights. Very strategically set up. Main stage was big, colorful and just what you would expect being in the Caribbean. VIP was placed high above the crowd with banging speakers and gave a hell of an experience. The crowd, they were happy and overwhelmed with excitement and loving every moment, much more surreal then I’ve seen anywhere else in the world. Chuckie, Knife Party, Carnage and lil’ Jon fueled every person enough to clear their minds, be free, live life, and dance the night away. The tech house beach stage at Nikki Beach started at 1:00am both nights, and I couldn’t believe how fast it filled up with people urging to keep partying. Day one Strangers & Friends from Space Miami presented the DJ line up of Boris, Patrick M, Alx, and Ray4dj with an amazing production making the party not just about music, but an experience, lasting until sunrise with hundreds of blown up beach balls, monkeys and huge red T-Rex among others things being bounced around the dancing crowd. Lastly, on the final day, the festival signed off with a bang. All day and all night at Nikki Beach DJ Endo, Detroit legend Stacey Pollen, Chus & Chabellos and other innovators in techno music spun incredible music, creating a beautiful vibe and a happy remembrance of Electric Fest Aruba. Overall this was definitely my top festival that included ADE, pool parties, nightclubs, boat parties, private islands, and bad ass festival grounds full of happy people and music. I am nothing but in full swing for next year, excited to see the line up, and new experiences.
