Rule-bound: An animated infographic showing the expansion of America’s regulations, and enforcement against banks. Rule-bound. The expansion of America’s regulations, and enforcement against banks. A decade ago, the number of new rules covering financial groups grew by more than a thousands pages a year. And this stayed about constant until the financial crisis. At the same time, the number of enforcement actions was low. And they increased only slightly. But after the financial crisis, all this would change. Regulators produced thousands of pages of more rules and requirements each year for banks to obey. And the amount of enforcement proceedings grew three-fold, and then as much as four-fold. So today, financial institutions need to be especially wary of the law -- since the rules are constantly changing. And regulators’ arms are growing longer.
