Rabbi Tal Sessler ⎪ Jerusalem: A City and a Longing

submitted by SPwrite on 11/26/15 1

Jerusalem has been the Jewish People's capital since antiquity, where the Temple stood, and Jews made pilgrimage on holy days. For nearly two millennia of exile, we never ceased to nurture the hope of return. At the same time, in Kabbalah, Jerusalem is also a symbol for the loftiest of human longings, and fulfillment for the Jewish people. Can Jerusalem as a symbol for sublime connection be reconciled with Jerusalem as a bustling and complicated city? Is there a way to be empowered by these apparent contradictions?
