Born in Soviet Union era of Russia, a daughter of Russian father and Ukrainian mother, I was grown during “perestroika”. From a very young age I had a passion for all things artistic: drawing, crafts, writing, dance, and fashion design. I started studying art and fashion during chaos in my country when it was falling apart, dreaming to become a fashion designer. Overwhelmed, but inspired by massive changes in the country, I had an opportunity to move to China to study. I graduated from Heilongjiang University in Harbin, China with Bachelor’s Degree in Arts. Lived for 10 years in China, worked as a professional translator for Mandarin and Russian, travelling all over Russia and Asia. Moved to Canada in 2005 and started my 3rd Degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Currently, I am a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist working full time and simultaneously developing as an artist. January 1st, 2014 I started painting with Yves Rene Decary and we combined our talents as “Disturbing Art” team where I discovered my real passion for painting. My contemporary painting style is a combination of expressionism and surreal images. Also, I like to use a variety of materials and products in my multimedia creations. I like to rebel against reality logic and rules, creating overly perfectionized characters in surreal environments. I start my art with emotion and idea and then I let my art introduce its idea and emotion to me. I would describe my art as interactive and reciprocal relationship. I paint what I feel, what I think, it’s my internal world, it’s my own reality even though sometimes it becomes bizarre, weird and surreal. My art is who I am, and I am what my art is. Every piece of my art has a hidden personal story in it. Anna was born in China and she picked up her pencil before she learned how to use chopsticks. When I was pregnant with her I wanted her to be an artist. Almost every day I went to art galleries and was staring at the art for hours, dreaming that one day, my child would become an artist. She was doing her little art on all walls and furniture all over the house, even on her father’s business papers, my reports, and our ID’s. She started taking her art classes from age 5, displaying her talent and passion for art. She took all possible classes in Arts Umbrellas including Drawing, Painting, Sculpting, Multimedia, Digital art, and etc. She was taking private classes with a variety of artists. Once she attended The Battle of The Brush, she got inspired by the incredibly artistic atmosphere of the event and joined me in an art team, “Fight Club” and expressed a desire to compete and demonstrate her incredible talent in Season 4 Episode 3 of The Battle of the Brush.
