Fly to Salzburg and then train, Post Bus, or hire private transportation to Saalbach. Now THAT is much easier than spending the entire day on trains. Austrian Tyrolian Airways has several flights from Frankfurt to Salzburg each day on small Fokker-100s; two seats on one side, three on the other. How can foreign airlines offer a snack, soft drinks, coffee, wine and beer on a 45 minute flight while American carriers only say, "Welcome" and "Goodbye"? 'Tis a puzzlement... It's time to practice my pathetic yodeling and spend two wonderful weeks in always gorgeous Austria that happened to be in the middle of a heat wave! Hiking in extreme heat would not be easy...
