Literary narratives and poetry have long expressed our common struggles to find an ethical way of coming to terms with the human wish to live forever. The speaker: Martha Montello is an associate professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her scholarly research examines the relationship between literary studies and the moral aspects of illness and clinical medicine, examining the many ways that narrative methods of analysis and interpretation are transforming the work of medicine and ethics.
