Noise Reduction Tools and Techniques in DaVinci Resolve

submitted by AudienceMagnet on 09/23/15 1

I recommend watching this in full screen at 1080p in order to most accurately see the noise issues discussed (as much as they're visible after compression upon compression). In this color correction tutorial, I cover the ins and outs of noise reduction in DaVinci Resolve. We start by looking at a particularly noisy shot and analyzing just what noise you may encounter in a noise reduction scenario. From there we take a look at the internal Resolve tools (only available for Resolve Studio), I also cover alternative 3rd party options (Neat Video OFX). Finally, I cover techniques to get passable noise reduction without any plugins at all. If you have Resolve Lite and want to learn how to do noise reduction without a plugin, skip to 30:22. The piece I'm working on is a music video by Edward John Drake and shot by Jake Ures for We Are The Ocean's "Good for You" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QfMs4FChtw). I'm working in DaVinci Resolve 12 Studio and using a JL Cooper Eclipse CX color board (not pictured). Rejoice for this video has no music! davidtorcivia.com
