Vietnam will always be on the back of all Vietnamese people living abroad. That's the one thing that all Viet kieu or Vietnamese abroad have in common, whether they are from America, Australia, Germany, Canada, and everywhere in between. Visiting Vietnam and visiting estranged family can be the most rewarding thing in a person's life. Visiting the countryside or the que can lead to new opportunities of self realization or discovery. This is exactly what Ngoc and I felt when we traveled to her birth place in a village not too far from Cat Tien.
