Halo 4: How to Fly the Mammoth (Tutorial)

submitted by thesfc on 12/20/13 1

This tutorial will show you how to create a Moveable Mammoth along with a Pelican, allowing you to fly the Mammoth via a Pelican. A full text tutorial is included below, along with extra links to related content. ---------------------------- *The following link is a simple tutorial for a similar result; requires less setup* How to Drive the Mammoth (Tutorial): youtu.be/xbMwUGaqzpI ============= NOTE: This trick combines both the "Moveable Mammoth (Basic)" with "Flying a Pelican on Reclaimer". If you are having trouble with any of the steps regarding the Pelican portion of this trick, if may be helpful for you to refer to the Pelican tutorial here: **You will need 2 Players to perform this trick.** Tutorial: -Start "Reclaimer" at the mission start. -Immediately after spawning, both players should run forward into the tunnel, stopping immediately before the Loadzone trigger: i.imgur.com/DmC0a.jpg -Player1 should now do a Double Jump off of Player2's head, making sure to hold FORWARD, and LEFT to avoid the Loadzone. (If you see a Pelican spawn, or an objective marker at this point: i.imgur.com/Ds6QW.jpg, you have failed and will need to revert to try again). **Once done, the players should begin immediately Jumping and Meleeing to delay the checkpoint. This will need to be done for the entirety of the setup, so be sure that at all times one of the players is actively delaying the checkpoint.** -Player1 should now be on the Mammoth side of the Loadzone trigger, while Player2 remains on the Starting Area side. -Player2 should then shoot one of the Marines at the entrance of the tunnel to make it moveable. -Player2 will then move one of the boxes/crates near the tunnel entrance, into the tunnel, placing it BEFORE the loadzone trigger (If you trigger the Loadzone, you will need to restart). -Player2 should then push the Marine behind the box. -Then, move the Marine through the Tunnel by shooting the box into the Marine. -Once you have pushed the Marine via the box through the tunnel, and beyond the Loadzone trigger, Player1 can then begin moving the Marine into the Mammoth. **Make sure that one of the players is continuing to Jump and Melee during this to delay the Checkpoint** -Once Player1 has the Marine in the Mammoth, move it up to one of the turrets on top of the vehicle. -Once the Marine is near a turret, get on and off of the turret. The Marine's stance should change when you do it. -Player1 should then jump on top of the Turret. -Player2 should then stop jumping, and stand just before the Loadzone trigger. **This will activate the checkpoint that has been delayed thus far.** -The Players should now be set up as follows: Player 1: Standing on the Turret of the Mammoth Player 2: Standing in the Cave: i.imgur.com/DmC0a.jpg -Now, Player1 will run forward and jump off of the Mammoth, as Player2 moves forward within the cave (hitting the skipped Loadzone). -This will Spawn the Pelican, and if the timing is correct, Player1 should now be inside the vehicle. -If done correctly, Player1 should be inside (NOT Riding) the Pelican, and Player2 should now jump off of the map to die. -Player2 should spawn inside of the Pelican with Player1 after a few seconds. As soon as Player2 spawns, they should RIDE in seat of the Pelican. -Player1 will then walk to the front of the Pelican, and turn to face the rear of the vehicle. -After a few seconds, Player1 should see a prompt allowing them to "Pilot the Pelican". -You should now be in full control of the Pelican. -Once you have the Pelican, fly back toward the Mammoth, entering the map wherever possible (you may try starting from a high point against the Vertical barrier, and hold forward while lowering to go through a gap). -Fly back to the Mammoth, and lower near it. The Mammoth should then begin to move forward. -Follow the Mammoth until it reaches the point shown in the video, at which time it should disappear. **You may way to pick up a checkpoint at this time. To do so, simple progress through the map until reaching the main 'battle' area (with the crashed Pelican). You should receive a checkpoint, and then be able to continue back to the Mammoth. (If you hit a barrier one your way back from this area, raise the Pelican along the vertical barrier, and slowly lower it while holding forward. You should be able to fly through a gap here. If the level beyond this point has deloaded, simply lower the Pelican near the area where the ground has disappeared, and it should reload.** -Fly the Pelican along the path shown to go around the final Barrier. You should now be at the Mammoth with a Pelican. ============== Notes: You can fly the Pelican into the Mammoth and raise it up along the walls. From here, you can simply 'hover' the Mammoth on your Pelican and carry it around the map. You can also attempt to Merge the Pelican with the Mammoth, though doing so may create a significant amount of lag in-game.
