WaterRower - Rowing Resistance

submitted by Read More About it on 09/02/15 1

This video demonstrates how a simple modification to a high quality rowing machine like the WaterRower can increase your workout potential. I have installed a total of four 1,200-lb-rated tie-down rings to the rails of the machine. Since the amount of force being applied to the rings will be fairly substantial, I chose to install 2 rings to each rail, back-to-back, drilling completely through the rail so that each ring plate has ample support from the other side. The resistance bands used were from another training aid I purchased, by a company named SKLZ. Their product model is the HOPZ, which was designed to use resistance bands between the ankle and hips to increase the load to the legs for jumping and other movements. These seemed to be a perfect match for the rower, as you can see. There is a total of approx 120lbs of resistance being added by the bands, which has turned this exercise into something much more intense. Would be nice if WaterRower included an option like this on their lineup! (I'll be tagging you guys over FaceBook with a link to this.)
