Dr Harry Witchel, Discipline Leader in Physiology. Some students were uncertain as to what was the most important content in the Lipids and Atherogenesis lecture. This is the first screencast of a three screencast series explaining the most important issues from the lecture. This first screencast explains what to prioritise when studying the lipids lectures for examinations; in essence, studying lipids is different from studying ECGs because even the basics of the process of atherogenesis remains an ongoing research topic, while the basics of ECGs are fairly well-established. Furthermore, lectures on lipids are presented with two different points-of-view (often in the same lecture): a public health perspective (focusing on limiting the morbidity/mortality from "traditional risk factors", and a scientific research perspective (focusing on understanding the disease so that additional treatments can be developed, some of which may address CHD that is NOT due to traditional risk factors).
