This is the full Aaron Swartz memorial at Cooper Union Great Hall January 19, 2013 with all the speakers. The speakers, in order, each introduced by MC Ben Wikler, Aaron's. long-time friend and ally who opens the event: Doc Searls, Glenn Otis Brown, Quinn Norton, Damian Kulash of OK Go (singing), Edward Tufte (Yale emeritus professor of statistics, Holden Karnofsky of GiveWell, Tom Chiarella (first reading his own piece and then from David Foster Wallace), Roy Singham of ThoughtWorks, David Isenberg of Freedom to Connect, excerpt of video of speech by Aaron Swartz, David Segal of Demand Progress, and Taren Stinebrickner-Kauffman of SumOfUs, Aaron's partner. There are only some minor omissions of a few phrases because of technical problems, and trimming some of the applause and speaker walk-ons. ----video by Joe Friendly with some occasional jerkiness from using a problematic tripod and with audio on only the right channel from his tiny Azden wireless lavalier microphone attached to one of the house microphones at the podium, but unfortunately ---except for the singer--- attached to the further away of the 2 house mics, so not quite as good as if closer. Happily I'd brought along some extra wireless mic receivers which I provided to 2 other fellow video shooters in the back of the Great Hall because the house audio 'mote box never came on despite considerable effort. Apologies to Taren for leaving out an "f" in Kauffman.
