In 2006 Chuck Smith documented to all pastors of Calvary Chapel name supporting false teaching emerging church to take name of Calvary Chapel off...... Rick Warren is very supportive of the emerging church. He wrote in a foreword for Dan Kimball's book, The Emerging Church: Vintage Christianity for New Generations --connecting his/rick warren ministry book the purpose driven church to the next step after his book to get Dan Kimball's/emergent church book - the Emerging Church: Vintage Christianity for New Generations -- RICK Warren states this book is a wonderful, detailed example of what a purpose-driven church can look like in a postmodern world. My friend Dan Kimball writes passionately, with a deep desire to reach the emerging generation and culture. While my book The Purpose-Driven Church explained what the church is called to do, Dan's book explains how to do it with the cultural creatives who think and feel in postmodern terms. You need to pay attention to him because times are changing The Emerging churches are against the final authority of the Word of God the bible and are repackaging it with a postmodern version of Progressive Christian theology—a Liberalism 2.0—often referred to as "big tent" Emergence Christianity. Mark Driscoll stated - In the mid-1990s I was part of the Emerging Church and spent time speaking on the emerging church in the emerging culture by the Young Leader Network. distanced myself from the Emergent Church friends like Brian McLaren and Doug Pagitt pushing theological agenda that greatly troubled me. Examples referring to God as a chick, questioning God's sovereignty over and knowledge of the future, denial of the atonement at the cross, a low view of Scripture, and denial of hell. Lectio Divina, which is the practice of repeatedly meditating and praying through a passage of Scripture, and many other spiritual exercises are being reintroduced in emerging worship gatherings Catholic mysticism . McLaren suggests on pp. 80--81 of More Ready Than You Realize that new Christian converts should remain within their specific contexts/religions. I don't believe making disciples to the Christian religion. It may be advisable in many (not all!) circumstances to help people become followers of Jesus and remain within their Buddhist, Hindu or Jewish contexts ... rather than resolving eternal destiny of people more convinced by or loyal to other religions than ours, we simply move on ... To help Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, and everyone else experience life to the full in the way of Jesus. I would gladly become one of them to whatever degree I can, to embrace them, to join them, to enter into their world without judgment. Often McLaren's postmodern approach stated In January 2006, McLaren expressed uncertainty about what the Christian view on homosexuality should be. (one of the leaders married son to another man) Our interpretations reveal less about God or the Bible than they do about ourselves. (A New Kind of Christian)
