GoPro Palau: Freediving Palau, Jake Seaplane: WW2 Navy Type Zero Reconnaissance Seaplane, code name "Jake Seaplane". My favorite wreck dive. It would take me almost a year, and 2 freediving trips to Palau to complete this project. On my first trip, I had trouble locating the wreck. I was working off inaccurate maps, and has extremely limited underwater visibility, making searching the bottom nearly impossible. I was disappointed, but I was determined not to give up. 8 months later I returned to Palau to try again. On my second trip, I had a better idea of the search area, and better underwater visibility, however frequent tropical storms threatened my attempts - but I found the aircraft, and I got the video. Don't confuse this airplane with the "Zero Fighter" which was carrier based aircraft. This is a seaplane, meaning it has pontoon floats, lands and takes off from water. Freediving in Palau was amazing. And the people we so friendly, and the Rock Islands were incredible its definitely one of my favorite places.
