Isaac & Frank Yama, Festival of Aboriginal Rock Darwin 1988

submitted by Aussies 4 First nations on 08/02/15 1

Legendary singer-songwriter Isaac Yama and his son Frank, performing at the Festival of Aboriginal Rock Music in Darwin, 1988. Whilst Warumpi Band is credited with being the first to release a song sung entirely in an Aboriginal language, Isaac Yama was performing his original songs in Pitjantjatjara language back in the 1960s and 1970s. The father-son relationship is so strong in this footage, the pride Isaac had in Frank is beyond doubt. Very moving stuff.
