A reCENT invisible reSYNC of the late Mac Silva and Blacklace performing "Before You Accuse Me" at the 1988 Building Bridges concert at Bondi Pavilion down there in Eora speaking Gadigal/Dharuk country. Hey look ! ... there's Peter Garrett. With inserted clips featuring the thoughts of Aboriginal music legends • Vic Simms - long-time Bidjigal country singer • Neil Murray - Warumpi Band • Bart Willoughby - No Fixed Address As part of the effort to counter balance the Euro-centric focus of the invasion's Bicentennial year - the Building Bridges concert and later album strove for recognition and equality in the music and media industries. The full day program of performers was staged and video recorded by a volunteer-crew of professional mediaworkers committed to bridging Australia's racial divide by bringing people together with music. I volunteered that day for the video recording and staging area - but this is the only segment of the video recording I have be able to see. I wonder where the full video footage of the 6-hour Building Bridges Concert is located ? Is it locked away in the ABCTV archives? Is it in someone's cupboard? Who knows - why we cannot see it ? © invisible.tv.au@gmail.com This is a tail segment of longer program, with additional voice-over commentary by Vicki Nangala Tippett and featuring additional comments by singing legends Vic Simms, Neil Murray (Warumpi Band) and Bart Willoughby (No Fixed Address). The association staged concerts showcasing black and white talent at the Bondi Pavilion. The first concert was held on 26 January 1988 in support of the Long March for Justice, Freedom and Hope. In 1989 a compilation album, Australia has a Black History, was released at the concert. In July the same year, a Rock for Land Rights concert was held at the State Sports Centre, featuring Crowded House and Paul Kelly. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - From Wikipedia.com - the free encyclopedia Track Listing 1.
