The Cutting Tradition is a 47-minute film, narrated by Meryl Streep, commissioned by FIGO - the International Federation of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. Filmed in Ethiopia, Egypt, Djibouti, Burkina Faso and the UK, it looks at the reasons for female genital mutilation in Africa today. The film was produced by SafeHands for Mothers www.safehands.org and FIGO www.figo.org *There are some distressing scenes in this film which are reconstructions and no child was harmed during the making of this film.
