A fast-moving wildland fire that started north of Willow, Alaska on Sunday (June 14, 2015) has grown to over 6500 acres in less than 24 hours. Local residents were initially evacuated to the community center in Willow, but later moved further south to the middle school in Houston (where these interviews were recorded). An evacuation advisory remains in place from miles 63 to 78 on the Parks Highway while firefighting crews struggle to control the blaze. Get updates on the Sockeye Fire at www.alaskapublic.org.
