James Hughes, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies. He's a bioethicist and sociologist who teaches health policy and serves as Director of Institutional Research and Planning at Trinity College in Hartford Connecticut. He's the author of "Cyborg: Why Democratic Societies Must Respond to the Redesigned Human of the Future" and is working on a second book tentatively titled "Cyborg Buddha." ____________ In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
