Aurora Stunt and Drag Race Car Set Commerical: Late 60's TV

submitted by virtualend on 06/10/15 1

These toys were Aurora's imitation of Mattels' hugely successful Hot Wheels. The Aurora cars were adapted from its HO-scale slot cars, the Thunderjet 500s. The bodies of these non-powered racers were identical to those of the slot cars, only with rivets in place of the screws that held the Thunderjets together. The rivets attached the bodies to rather poor imitations of the Hot Wheels chassis. They were sub standard to the Hot Wheels but at least this commercial was cool and late 60's groovy, man! The film is available for free download at Prelinger Archives here: archive.org/details/aurora_drag_race_set This film is in the public domain.
