Here is a view of riding through Northern Laos on a motorcycle. The countryside of Laos is far more beautiful than Thailand, but also far more desolate. This is a good thing assuming all is going well with the roads and your bike, or a bad thing if you break down in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, we met up with a group of great riders from Chiang Mai that warned us of the terrible roads we would encounter in Laos. We took their advice and traveled slow, and even found a town on their recommendation that we would otherwise not have stopped at, Nong Kihaw.
