The myth of imperfection: Can you really fit in?

joanneameyacohen.com Hello, this is Joanne Ameya Cohen and we are here for another amazing episode of Q & A Wednesday. Today, there is no specific question but I want to address something that is an epidemic amongst women. Over the weekend I was at a women's embodiment training. I love going to retreats... they fill me up, allow space for me to be more of myself, and I learn so much about women that I bring into my practice. This weekend I had this major epiphany! All of us feel a bit left out... like everyone else has it together except us. That no one can really understand our pains, our wounds, and our low self-worth. But the truth is, we are so much more similar than you might imagine. Gosh, I wish I had known this in high school. We are all trying so hard to fit in, to be accepted... but who is creating this arbitrary criteria of what is normal? We are all pushing ourselves to fit in but we will never fit in! And that is so beautiful and sooo freeing. We hide our shame, our disgust, our sadness, our judgements... can you believe what we carry around day to day with us? We make things so much harder for ourselves because to admit that we are not perfect and don't have it all together proves what we know deep inside... that we are flawed. You are not flawed. You have just forgotten the absolute truth of who you are... a loving gorgeous beautiful woman. I invite you today to stand in front of the mirror and say "I am a gift. And I am not alone. I am understood and loved." If you like this video, please subscribe to our youtube channel and pass this on to a friend. One of my best friends and I were talking about this topic this morning and there was so much freedom in realizing that we are all so much more alike than you might have imagined. And tell me: When was there a time in your life that you realized you weren't alone and that there were women, actually lots of women, who understood your pain? How much do you push down to feel like you fit in? Thanks so much and see you on the next Q & A Wednesday. www.naturallyprosperous.com
