Matted Poodle.wmv

This toy poodle came in for grooming in terrible condition. I consider this neglect and animal abuse. The owner told me she groomed her at home. She had, at some point, shaved the top of her back, but apparently got stuck after that when she realized the hair would not just fall off, especially where it was tightly matted and wrapped all around her legs, feet and face. Her legs were matted to her body in such a way that she could not have full range of motion to move without causing pain where the hair pulled on the skin. Her hair was also damp because the mats could not get dry all the way, and she smelled like a dead animal. I don't know how the owners could stand the smell. It's sad that this dog had to live like this. She was very good for her whole groom, except cleaning her ears and clipping her nails, when she tried to bite me, but she's forgiven for that! Sweet dog under all that filth. Poodles should be groomed every four to six weeks. The most you should go is eight weeks, if you do some upkeep at home. I brush and comb my standard poodle every other day to keep her coat in good condition.
