Barking, Fearful Wheaten Terrier Learns to Behave as a Calm Family Dog

submitted by DogTraining on 05/27/15 1

Steph Marhle-Mishra of Good Karma Dog Training, demonstrates how to train a badly behaved dog to be a calm family dog (using the calm on command training technique) with four-year-old Irish soft-coated wheaten terrier Olive. Olive was behaving badly by barking excitedly, and barking fearfully, at the new born baby in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. This wheaten terrier dog was also behaving badly by aggressively barking at the mail man and jumping on furniture, as well as jumping on guests in her home. Using the balanced dog training method and tools (such as a herm sprenger prong collar), the fearful aggressive barking at the baby has stopped after just one (of four) in-home dog training sessions. The "place" command can be used in the home to prevent bad behaviors such as excited rushing at the door, barking, biting, jumping, counter surfing, freely roaming the home, and getting into things like the trash, or chewing on furniture. Training your dog to calmly behave in your home and follow the "place" command consistently, will eliminate the occurrence of bad behavior both inside and outside of your home. Dog training is a process. It is not always pretty. It is absolutely NOT perfect. Dog training is not about perfection. It is about calm persistence. Watch right here, how Steph teaches this puppy how to respect the place command.
