Introduce your dogs in a neutral place away from your home such as a park or a neighbor's yard. By doing this your resident dog is less likely to view the Newcomer as a threat to its territory. Put both dogs on a leash and make sure each dog is handled by a separate person. Begin by walking past each other and avoid walking straight towards each other. Move closer each time to create a sense of comfort. Increase the distance of the dogs if they show any signs of fear or aggression. Never force the dogs to meet or interact!
