Aiki-Lab: States of Being Affecting the Way Ki is Expressed

submitted by Carl Desousa-Oldenburg on 05/25/15 1

In this clip we are looking at the way our intentions and feelings align with our purpose. When our purpose is to yield or defend ourselves, ki withdraws back into our center or extends out of us into the center of our partner, respectively. When our purpose is to support our partner ki expands out of us as if in a flood. When we connect with our partner this way, our partner's flow, constricted to a destructive degree by his purpose, is absorbed and the flow of ki from our center floods his system. If our partner's expressed need to connect to center continues, it will flow to the ground, taking our partner with it. Our purpose would continue to be supportive so that our partner is not injured in the fall.
