We can use the distinctions in battlefield intentions to illuminate our own embodied intentions that may be in contrast to our intellect's intention. When we can understand the intentions in our partner's actions we can begin to recognize our own disguised intentions. When we can identify our automatic defense intentions we can then learn to transcend them to embody a beneficent intention. As an example, viewing the attacker as someone who is thirsty allows us to want to help them have sustenance and this beneficent intention creates an expansive field of energy that creates the possibility of takemusu aiki. Much gratitude to my practice partners Randy Salyers and Cory Juhl.
