Jinno has only been practicing aikido for less than six months in this clip. He has never learned a technique other than in the movement sets in our beginner's fundamental course (stretches and spots: www.westlosangelesaikido.com/Initial%20Instruction%20-%20Phase%20One.html). Under the duress of this unconventional, yet debilitating series of grabs, Jinno is able, by shifting his intention to one of beneficence (caring about me benefitting from our interaction) to find effective and immediately manifesting aikido. Now that he has learned to connect center to center with his attacker by extending a flood of ki via beneficent intention, his practice is to more immediately and consistently transcending his limbic defense mechanisms to embody the state that creates aikido out of conflict.
