Christian (unranked) has never had aikido technique training during his less than two years in aikido. He is being given unconventional attacks with authentic attack energy by his yudansha partners rather than the collusive ukemi necessary for the learning of rigid forms. Because he has never learned techniques his guidance all comes from his internal system and he is as effective finding aiki as his ability to transcend fear responses to come from a place of higher consciousness.
