From Shamokin Aikido Kai, March 2015 The spontaneous manifestation of aikido generated from the blending of attack energy and beneficent intention provides a non-violent alternative to martial effectiveness. If we were to throw real world attackers or attempt to submit them to the joint locks and pins we often engage in in practice, it may seem to solve the immediate problem - but at what cost? Vengefulness is stimulated with a desire for retaliation. Pinning a partner is unnecessary if one trusts that aikido is available and effective for every situation.
