Scapular shrugs are an excellent mobility drill for loosening up the musculature around the upper back by isolating the movement of the shoulder blades. Blog post: antranik.org/scapular-shrugs/ Facebook: facebook.com/Antranik.org Instagram: instagram.com/antranikdotorg This is also part of my bodyweight-training routine: antranik.org/register/get-rings-routine/ To recap, the variations were: 1. Scapular shrugs on all fours 2. Scapular shrugs from plank 3. Scapular shrugs with a band And if you can't get on the ground for whatever reason, put your hands against the wall and do them against a wall. It's very low intensity, but it still works to loosen the area up. Note: These go by many different names: rhomboid push ups in physical therapy (which I believe is incorrect), scapular push ups by ido portal and scapular shrugs in gymnastics. The gymnastics "scapular shrugs" name stuck with me, so that's what I'm calling them.
