Michael Smetanin's tour-de-force for 7 bass clarinets and 2 contrabass clarinets. And, hands down, my favorite piece for the bass clarinet — it changed my life. This piece, quite simply, is what made me write for the bass clarinet the way I have for the past 20 years.
