In the second week of my Jazz Forum at CalArts we were asked to perform as duos, and I asked Caleb Veazy (on electric guitar) to play with me. I wrote this song as a lullaby for a very wonderful 6-year-old girl who I used to teach violin when I lived at Occidental Arts & Ecology Center. The tune memorializes the good times had picking raspberries in the garden. I was experimenting with a non-standard guitar tuning (E A C# G B D#) and this song popped out.
