It is that time of year again... Mid March in Chiang Mai Thailand and everyone that is not in Thailand wants to know... How bad can the smoke really be? For those that don't already know, March and April are hot, dry months in Chiang Mai. This coupled with the farmers from not only Thailand but all over South East Asia burning their fields to get ready for the upcoming planting season creates "Smoky Season" Because Chiang Mai is surrounded by mountains the smoky clouds get stuck in the valleys, and some days are to the point where you can't see past a few hundred yards.
