Youtube has a character limit for the description, so I wasn't able to give all the details here. Get the full tutorial and materials list here-www.facebook.com/notes/megsgoodies/full-walking-dead-cake-how-to/307861466018218 Decorations: Gravestones-heat your black candy melts in the microwave until smooth and then pipe on to a sheet of parchment paper. (I used 20 on my cake) Fences-heat your white candy melts until smooth, then create a template on parchment paper (I made mine 7" x 3"). Flip your paper and pipe on your white candy melts. The best way I found was to pipe you inner sections first, and go over you template line. Then, using a larger piping tip, pipe your outer section of the fence. Once the candy has hardened you will be able to break away any small pieces that extend beyond the outer section. Finally, spray with your edible paint. Crosses-heat your white candy melts, and once melted add a little bit of brown gel food coloring. Pipe on to parchment. If you pipe them in 2 sections, as I did, allow them to harden and then attach to each other with a little bit more melted candy. You can also use a little bit of brown food coloring as a nail on the cross. Barbed wire-wrap your thin gauge wire around a small rolling pin to create a spiral to place on top of your fences. Railings for tower-after you have constructed your tower, measure your base (mine was 7" x 8") and create a template for your railings on parchment paper. Pipe with black candy melts and allow to harden. Now, to start construction. Take a deep breath.....here we go! Place one of your cakes on your large cake board, then spread on a thin layer of chocolate buttercream. Top with another layer of cake and cover (as well as you can) with the rest of your chocolate buttercream. Put this in the fridge to chill out for a bit. After it has chilled use a small tool to mark where you would like your dirt path to be. Using green buttercream, pipe around these marks to create grass on your cake. Place it back in the fridge to chill. While your prison yard is chilling, you can start construction on your tower. Once you have your base together you can cover this is plastic wrap and start prepping your cake. Cut each of your remaining cakes in to 6 equal pieces and also cut a circle out of the middle so it will go around your center support easily. Then start stacking...you will use 12 layers of cake for the base of your tower. Use some white buttercream in between each layer to hold in place. After all 12 layers are stacked, place in the fridge to harden up a bit. After about half an hour, take your tower out and trim the sides to even them up. Now you can cover your tower with fondant. Start this process by coloring your fondant to whatever color you would like your tower to be. Roll out enough fondant to cover your tower, as well and 2 small squares for the landing of your tower and the roof. You will also need to cut out 2 small cardboard squares to use for the landing and the roof at this time. Once your tower is covered, place one of your cardboard squares covered in fondant for the landing, then stack 2 more layers of cake. Place back in the fridge to harden, then trim and cover in fondant. Now you can use your cake pegs to hold on your last piece of fondant covered cardboard. At this time you will also want to measure your landing to create your railings with black candy melts. After about 20 minutes in the fridge you can take out your tower and attach your railings using more melted candy. Also, use some green buttercream to create grass on your base. Now you can finish your prison yard cake. Place your fences on the cake using long lollipop sticks. Use some melted candy as glue and a can of compressed air (turned upside down) to secure in place.Carefully attach your barbed wire by hooking a small piece of wire to an open section in your fence. Then you can put your crosses on the cake ( use some cake crumbs for dirt ) and attach your gravestones around your cake as a border. You can also use some cake crumbs in the front of the gravestones as well. Finally add your zombies!! Hooray, you did it! Now, sit back and relax, you deserve it :) Music by: www.incompetech.com
