Hilleberg Akto - My Survival Shelter

submitted by SQOOP on 03/24/15 1

Hi folks, I’m sharing a premium quality tent, the Hilleberg Akto one person tent. This is the survival shelter I have chosen for myself in the unlikely event I ever have to evacuate. It is a true 4-season tent and designed to withstand severe weather conditions. This tent is not for everyone and there are many other sheltering options, including using a tarp system or building your own shelter. There are also many choices on the market and only you can decide what type of sheltering system is right for you. Below please find the specs as well as some additional information. Have a nice day! Hilleberg Akto One Person Tent - Specs Pack weight: 3 lbs. 8 oz. or 1.6 kg Inner height: 36 inches or 91 cm Inner length: 87 inches or 220 cm Inner width: 36 inches or 91 cm Vestibule width: 30 inches or 76 cm Vestibule length: is about 42 inches but it tapers down to a cone shape Approximate cost: $400 - $498 USD When I purchased mine they were $369 and I got the optional footprint as part of the deal. My apologies, in the video I said it come with one 10 mm pole. The tent actually comes with one 9 mm high grade aluminum pole, but I do have an extra tent pole and that one is 10 mm. For extra strength, you can run two poles through the loop area. This gives the tent even more structure to support snow and withstand heavy winds. It comes with 10 high grade aluminum V-pegs, guy lines and easy to adjust line locks It comes with a carry bag and packs down to about 6” x 23” or 15.2 x 58 cm The optional footprint cost $60.00 US dollars and adds 9 ounces or 255 grams to the pack weight Applications: Hunting, fishing, backpacking, backcountry bushcrafting, winter camping, snowmobiling, kayaking, exploring, survival, etc… The Hilleberg Akto is a Red Label tent. It is made out of a 1200 weight Kerlon material, which is incredibly strong given its weight ratio. Hilleberg also makes Black Label tents, which are made out of 1800 weight Kerlon and come with 10 mm poles. The Black Label models are expedition grade tents, but they are also heavier and more expensive. The Snug Pack Scorpion 2 is another good survival tent, but it is not quite the same quality as Hilleberg. I’m sure whatever shelter you choose will be the right one for you. Bottom line, the Hilleberg Akto is a high grade tent for serious outdoor people. Here's the clip on the Hilleberg Akto handling in hurricane force conditions: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1iJvk6tKs4
