America's brewer and beer importers support an industry that generates jobs for more than 2 million Americans, from brewery hands to bartenders, providing nearly $79 billion in wages and benefits. Beer also contributes more than $49 billion in taxes to federal, state and local government. In fact, taxes already make up more than 40 percent of what consumers pay for beer.
