Brittany has been suffering from severe migraines for about 15 years now. The only cure to these headaches seems to be a ridiculously priced pill which cost about 20X in the States as compared to Thailand. Therefore, we were fine paying for the medication in Thailand, but the migraines were becoming more and more frequent. Finally we had enough. We wanted to get her brain scanned to make sure something more serious wasn't going on. We visit Dr. Morgan for an initial consult. She is a general practice doctor in Chiang Mai (just south of the Airport) who is a phenomenal doctor. Most foreigners in Chiang Mai now go to her for any problems. Dr. Morgan performed a series of test, including blood work at her office, and then scheduled Brittany's MRI for the next day. The MRI procedure went about as smoothly as it possibly could go. We were in and out of Chiang Mai Ram hospital with MRI results and readings from a neurologist in three hours. Three weeks later we went back to meet with the Neurologist so track progress. Again, we were in and out within an hour and the charge to meet with a Neurologist was 525 baht, or about $16. $16 is about half of my co-pay back in the states just to see a general doctor! Needless to say if you need any sort of MRI, Scan, Sonogram etc, Thailand is likely to be way cheaper compared to that of the US.
