I created a multimedia experience for the children's book "Duck for President". I animated the illustrations and combined them with music, sound effects, and narration to tell the story. In this video students will listen to the book Duck for President by read aloud by a narrator as illustrations from the book move across screen. Students will follow Duck on his road to the presidency of the United States. Unhappy with the working conditions on the farm, Duck campaigns to put himself in charge, and wins! Destined for bigger, if not better, he proceeds to become governor and sets his sights on the highest office in the nation. Children and adults alike will get a giggle out of this witty story of a humble duck working his way up in the world. This is a good companion resource for teaching literacy in the classroom as it helps to bring literary characters to life. Content is appropriate for elementary students. This short, clever video is patterned after campaign videos of American politicians: "Duck for President. Left wing, right wing, a fresh bill on capital hill." It promotes the book Duck for President by Doreen Cronin. Colorful, with male narrator and music. Cronin and illustrator Betsy Lewin won a Caldecott honor from the American Library Association for a previous picture book collaboration.
