This is an interview in Oslo with Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala’s father, Ziauddin Yusufzai, on the eve of the award ceremony of Nobel Prize. Mr. Yusufzai said that he was overjoyed as a father and as a Pakistani for the honor. It is a matter of great pride, he said. He pointed out that at a time when Pakistan is embroiled in acts of terrorism “ this has come as a breath of fresh air”. This will provide great encouragement to the girls and the country will earn good name. People around the world now associate Pakistan with the name of Malala. In reply to a question Ziauddin Yusufzai said that there are so many supporters of Malala in Pakistan, who acknowledge and appreciate her courage and ideology adding that those who are skeptical of the recognition and honor accorded to her are in fact” opposed to the rights of women and shun values that seek to empower women”. He, however, said that Malala takes all that in good stride. She is a brave girl and “she is deeply committed to the freedom of expression”.
