submitted by DundeeCommunity on 01/28/15 5

The dance hall, Robies, located in the Hawkhill area, held Scotlands first ever twist marathon in the early 60's. The contest attracted around 20,000 spectators in the 4 days it went on for. Dundee dancer, Bobby Cannon eventually won it after twisting himself dizzy for 95 almost hours! Runner up, Cathie Connelly later went on to become World Twisting Champion in 1964 down in Manchester, dancing for 102 hours and achieving a spot in the Guinness Book Of Records.
