Mary the Queen (of Scots) gave it to Dundee to be used as a burila ground. The last burial was undertaken in the 4th decade of the 19th century. Many local, country & world wide figures down through centuries were intered here. Howff an old Scots word for gathering place was well merited. It was used an alfresco venue for all sorts of discussion groups.
