Why has millions of pounds of public investment spent on social housing in the 1960s ended up with that same housing being demolished after only 35-40 years? Ardler and Whitfield multis are all gone and there are plans afoot to bulldoze most of the remaining towers except Dallfield, a few in Lochee and Dudhope Court in Lochee Road. I know Dundee's economy has fallen off a cliff over the last forty years but to allow what started as perfectly good homes to fall into such disrepair is a criminal waste of resources. It must cost nearly as much to demolish as to rebuild. The blocks should have been refurbished providng much needed employment for Dundee.
