Why do we do the very things we hate? Why can't we keep from sinning? This is the very question that seems to be the root question of all religions...how can we escape our sin nature? It seems like the majority of our culture is driven by envy, greed, jealousy, and the idea putting ourselves first instead of loving others first.....We tell our kids that the most important thing in life is to have self esteem when the Bible tells us to esteem others before ourselves.....we have adopted this selfish attitude and it is just one of the major reasons our country and world have fallen for the selfish grand delusion that we can all be our own gods. The Bible tells us that there is an answer to our sin nature through Jesus Christ and the price he paid on the cross....and that we are cannot earn our way to heaven through doing good works because all of us have fallen short. The key is to admit we are sinners and realize we have fallen short of God's perfect standard....We are called to love our enemies and to be a witness to others through our actions and to forgive those who have sinned against us because Christ has first forgiven us on the cross. None of us know the path someone else has walked or how they might have been abused and following a pattern and all they need is for someone to love them and show them the same forgiveness that Christ showed us. The next time someone is hateful toward you or wrongs you in some way....answer them with love and forgiveness and witness to them with your actions the power of Christ and what he did for all of us!
