.As Alta Mira Recovery Program's (www.altamirarecovery.com/) Clinical Director, Dr. Blagys is responsible for the clinical supervision, oversight and direction of our treatment programs. Dr. Blagys received his doctoral degree from the University of Arkansas in Clinical Psychology. He completed his Predoctoral Internship and Postdoctoral Training at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Blagys then completed a four year intensive Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Austen Riggs Center, a residential dual diagnosis treatment center in Stockbridge, MA, working with clients typically labeled 'treatment resistant'. Later, he worked as a Psychotherapist and Admission's Director at the Boyer Foundation, a residential treatment center in San Rafael, CA. Dr. Blagys was most recently employed as a staff psychologist and co-chair of the psychology department at Napa State Hospital. Dr. Blagys has diverse interests including working with treatment resistant clients, residential treatment, psychodynamic psychotherapy, organizational and group dynamics, integrating psychological assessment into treatment, similarities and differences between treatment approaches, and psychotherapy process and outcome research. Dr. Blagys has published several articles and made numerous presentations in these areas.
