In Part 2 of our exclusive sit down with the lovely Chrisette Michele we get in-depth on the topic of her new EP The Lyricist's Opus on many different levels. Opening up with a discussion on the projects opening track which is really more of a conversation between Super Chris and her boo Justin Lyons, the two discuss the "no judgement zone" that was observed in creating a "genre-less" piece of work. Elaborating on the topic of genre-less music, Chrisette and Caitlin dive deeper into the labor that went into putting this newest offering together. Saying she had to "go all the way" our favorite girl talks the advantages & disadvantages of using her own money and working only with close friends as this was an independent effort. Lyons goes on to explain his involvement in the project, from production, to instrumentation, to utilizing his vocal skills, as he also honestly explains the slight irritation that can arise when working on music this way. Not quite sure what an "opus" is? Rather than simply telling you, be sure to watch on as Chrisette explains why such a short, well strung together project made perfect sense for her. She even manages to get Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, and Taylor Swift into one sentence as she explains the inspiration behind this particular approach to releasing a new collective of musical mastery. Last but not least, we learn about what Justin and Chrisette have next on their personal and professional agendas! Chrisette is set to plan the Opus Tour to start at the top of 2015, and Justin is headed overseas for a few months to put some things together. No worries, the two lovebugs will be together for a bit as Chrisette plans to join Justin in Japan, then take a quick break in the spring to do some backpacking all over the globe....how....dope!
