Song synopsis: The lyrics for this song were written by the Tamil poet Vaali. 'Nan yen piranthen' is a song about a child who is shunned by society for abject poverty. It is about the child's agony on being lonely and persecuted. So much so that the child keeps questioning, 'Why was I born? Why I did I ever open my eyes?" It is a very existential, yet poignant question. The song is about eventual redemption and how the child hopes to overcome all obstacles and oppression.
