Zvezda - Song ZHURAVLI

submitted by WereldSongFestival on 11/05/13 1

As I already mentioned, this was a special concert, so every singer/group had a patriotic song in his repertory. Serebro this time had one of the most famous Russian songs coming out of world war II - 'Zhuravli' ('Cranes'). Originally written as a poem by Rasul Gamzatov and later became a very well known song. Cranes have become associated with dead soldiers, because of this a big part of WWII memorials in the former Soviet Union feature the image of flying cranes.
